True Blue

Everyone says the sky in Colorado seems bluer than anywhere else. We did a little research and found out that it’s true – sort of. In honor of the sky that is so blue and one of our favorite seasons, we are going to share some of our favorite blue finds.

Usually this time of year, people start using more deep reds, golden yellows and rich browns throughout their homes. Blue gets overlooked – but we’re loving blue for everything from throws to pillows, clutches to linens. It feels a little unexpected but adds a touch of elegance to a room.

Obviously switching out furniture for our seasonal adjustments isn’t feasible for most. We are lucky, though, because we have a 25,000-square-foot warehouse stocked with furnishings and accessories in any color. We get to change out showroom vignettes every week. Talk about feeling like a kid in a candy store!

We are loving multi-colored pillows in different patterns. The coordinate with most any sofa and create a new look for your room. Right in line with pillows, of course, are throws. From deep, rich blue throws to patterned blankets that exude coziness, throws add a nice bit of color – with functionality.

One of our favorite decorating tips is to use objects in unexpected ways. We love stacking a few coffee table books together, showcasing not only the titles but the various hues. Use mismatched bowls as a centerpiece.

The best part of blue is the sheer number of shades. Chambray to a deep, rich blue, navy to royal, there is a blue for you. Try bright hydrangeas in a crystal vase. Or use deep, bold vases by themselves for accent and color.

Oh – and the sky really is more blue in Colorado: “The absorbed blue light is scattered around the sky so everywhere you look you see blue. Because Colorado has such a high altitude and less water vapor in the air, the sky appears bluer.”
