For the third year running, Slifer Designs teamed with Habitat For Humanity to raise funds for local, affordable housing through its Patio Party held on Friday, June 28th in the street outside the Slifer Designs Retail Store at Riverwalk in Edwards.
Giving back to the community is just part of doing business at Slifer Designs. The company strives to not only be a community partner but also to uphold its mission of creating inviting spaces for its clients, whether the client is an area nonprofit or a resort homeowner.
Over the past 35 years, Slifer Designs has deepened their relationship with Habitat by routinely donating high-quality, gently used furnishing to the Habitat ReStore. The ReStore, in turn, sells the wares and has given back more than $100,000 to the affiliate for construction of affordable homes.
“Giving back to our resort community has always been at the forefront of who we are and what we do,” said Beth Slifer, founder and creative director at Slifer Designs. “We are proud to host a fabulous party that supports Habitat, and to celebrate our 35th anniversary alongside our friends, neighbors and partners.”
The event represents only one small aspect of a larger philanthropic relationship between Slifer and Habitat. “We are so excited to be part of Slifer Designs’ philanthropy; working together throughout the years to enhance our community partnerships,” says Elyse Howard, development director for Habitat For Humanity. “A house is much more than a home. A stable environment creates strength, stability and self reliance.”
As part of the celebration under the alpenglow light, community members came together to make the event truly special: Christy Sports provided a beautiful array of patio furniture and Synergy Systems donated the wine. Habitat for Humanity were able to exceed their fundraising goal of $1,500 through a silent auction, tips, and a matching donation by Slifer Designs of $500—in total, Habitat raised over $2,400 at the event.
